Gay Download Key is a DVD archive site that offers members to a collection of full gay porn DVDs. You can preview all the DVDs and see the stars, running time and see some preview screencaps. There are plenty of gay niches to search through or you can search by title or scene or studio. Gay Download Key makes some claims on the tour - they say the member area offers 1020 DVDs and a total of 4362 scenes with a new DVD added every day. They say their movies are fully downloaded in both WMV and MPG formats for broadband. That sounds pretty impressive - let's log in and see what we find in the member area!
Despite site claims that there are 1020 DVDs and 4362 scenes inside Gay Download Key, I could find only 170 DVDs listed when you click the All DVDs link. That's 850 DVD titles less than the site claims. When I searched all scenes, I found over 500 - which is a lot of scenes, but is significantly less than 4362 of them.
In trying to get some hard, cold facts about Gay Download Key, I discovered that while there are dates on all the DVDs inside Gay Download Key, I couldn't find a way to get the titles to list by date order. That means that it would take many hours to figure out how long the site has been updating every day but I can tell you that for the last 8 days, the site has added a new DVD every single day - or so it seemed. When I returned over 2 months later, there seemed to be about the same number of DVDs and scenes that there were when I first reviewed the site - but there were DVDs dated from every day. What there was definitely NOT, however, was over 60 additional DVDs.
To help members find what they're looking for, Gay Download Key has a search box on the left, 2 dropdown menus - one listing studios, the other niches - links to a list of things like the top rated scenes, most downloaded scenes and most downloaded DVDs and then below this a list of categories. Something I noticed is that the studio list isn't all that large and most studios are listed twice, which makes it look like the site has more studios' videos than they do. The list doesn't include popular studios like Cobra and The Body Shoppe, but you will find Bacchus, Daddy-Oohhh, Legend and more studios of this level.
The videos are offered in 3 sizes - Hi Resolution, Med Resolution and Lo Resolution. All videos are WMVs and can be downloaded or streamed. The Hi vids are offered at 640x480 with a bitrate of around 1400k. Med quality vids are shown at 512x384 with a bitrate of 450k, and low quality vids are offered at 320x240 with a bitrate of 350k, which is very close to the medium vids and too hefty for dialup users but perfect for those on slower broadband connections.
The videos all looked pretty good, had good sound and played smoothly. While I have seen better quality DVD rips, these are acceptable, although I found some were a little dark. One thing, though - many DVDs display the video at 720x480, not 640x480, so I suspect that some of the DVDs here are encoded at the wrong size. Still, it's not enough difference in appearance to really notice.
Since the Gay Download Key videos are made by a variety of producers, and include both professional and amateur content, production values vary. Some of the videos in the site are on the older side, and include some late 80's and 90's stuff by such stars as Tom Katt and Paul Carrigan. There's also some titles that have made it into the budget section of most video stores, like 976-Cumm and Grapplin. The bottom line is there's a lot of variety in the titles here, but there are also a lot of older videos.
A word here about the categories and the search feature. I couldn't find muscle on the category list - there's no bodybuilders, no muscle, no hunk category so I searched the terms muscle and hunk using the search box and got no results. Ditto with the terms straight and cumshot. Then I tried searching the last name of one of the guys in one of the videos I found in the member area and also got no results. It appears that the only terms added to each DVD are the ones from the category list. That's too bad as better search would have been very useful and made this site a lot more fun.
With over 500 scenes from 160 DVDs, Gay Download Key has a lot to offer members. While the site does not seem to offer the number of DVDs and scenes that the tour claims, the movies here are good quality 640x480 downloadable WMVs that are also offered in 2 smaller sizes. The site claims to add a new DVD every day, but while there are DVDs dated with recent dates, the number of DVDs seems to remain unchanged, so it's hard to know if this site updates. If variety, a huge amount of videos, some searchability and plenty of gay men fucking, sucking and stroking their cocks sounds good to you, why not check out Gay Download Key and see more of what they have to offer.
