GayDemon's review of Diesel Live

Things have changed since our last visit to Diesel Live. As you're about to enter the site, you'll see links to Diesel's MySpace and Facebook accounts, and when you hit enter, you'll be taken to the tour. There's a sample video on the right, a cam that reloads every 60 seconds but keeps loading the same pic, and underneath is a welcome. Then comes screencaps from Diesel's videos. Diesel Live is the site of hot black bodybuilder Diesel J, and if you like dark muscular men with great asses, chances are you'll like the samples on the tour. The tour promises access to Scheduled live shows, "nearly 200" recorded live shows, plus bonus sites and feeds. The dates shown on the tour for the live cam and latest updates aren't all that recent, but you never know. Let's log in and see what's going on at Diesel Live these days.

When you log into the member area, you're taken to a page with a calendar. It's got updates and live shows listed, but the dates are from 3 months ago. I'm not 100% sure about the update situation - on the tour there's a reloading cam that's dated 5 weeks ago, and updates dated a little over 2 months ago. It doesn't seem the site is currently updating. Content is found mainly in 2 sections: the video section is called MY VIDEOS, and the pics section is called PHOTOS. There are 183 videos in the MY VIDEOS section - 23 in Classic Videos and 160 in Streaming Videos. The other links go an offsite blog, pay per view and feeds, but the feeds links don't work.

Each of the Diesel Live videos are available in both WMV and Quicktime clips that are embedded on the page. They're shown on the small side at 320x240 at from 140k to 310k. Quality for the Classic Videos is okay as long as you don't enlarge. Quality for the Streaming Videos is okay for webcams from a few years ago, which is to say you can easily make out everything in the vids, but they could be a little sharper and I wouldn't recommend enlarging them. Quality depends a little on the lighting, as well.

The streaming videos are recorded live shows, so they're fairly long and Diesel interacts with the cam for his members pretty well. All the videos are DRM-free, and are in an average of 7 clips each with no full scenes available.

As mentioned, the 620 photos are shown in a single run-on gallery. These are vidcaps, and quality depends a lot on lighting. They mostly range from okay vidcap quality to dark and a little hard to make out. There's no descriptions, no way to tell at a quick glance which pics are from the same shoot or other shoots, and also there are no slideshow or zip files available.

The main issue here is that there doesn't seem to be anything new being added. The site doesn't seem to have updated the video section in a while. I visited the site several times over the last few days, but the cam section never had anyone live, and the few members who appeared in chat soon moved on. The feeds have not worked in that time, either. The blog link goes offsite to Diesel's non-member site, and has also not updated in the last 5 weeks. It has a lot to do with his music, some bodybuilding stuff, etc.

Diesel of Diesel Live is big black muscle man I'd love to watch regularly, and he's definitely the site's strong point. The site offers 183 exclusive DRM-free videos that are offered in clips and not offered for download, although if you're web-savvy, you won't have a problem saving them. They're small and mostly from older live cam shows, but I liked 'em. There is a single gallery with over 600 screencaps from various videos. The feeds aren't working, and there hasn't been a live show in a while, nor updates for at least 5 weeks, and possibly longer. While I've seen sites in this situation start updating again, there's no way to know. If you're a fan of Diesel J or love black bodybuilders, and don't mind the lack of updates and smaller videos, Diesel Live could be worth checking out.
