Chisel has been around forever. I remember it as one of the first gay sex sites I saw when I started surfing in early 1998. Today the Chisel tour seems to offer everything - truly a GAY SEX SUPER SITE as they claim. They seem to have a lot of variety, which can be lots of fun when you're horny but not sure what you're in the mood for. From beefcake to skaters to latin men to asian guys, Chisel offers you a world of live guys, xxx videos and hardcore pics. They've got me interested, so let's go inside and see what Chisel has to offer!
Chisel's main member page starts with navigation links on the top of the page and the rest of the page is full of stuff withthumbs, text descriptions and titles. On the left side of the page fist is the WHAT'S NEW section, which contains 2 features that aren't actually new. Go figure. Nect there are 3 live shows listed, and while each has some free features, you must pay to see nudity or any hardcore jerking. The next section on the left is PICTURES, which offers a feed, a cumshot gallery and another feed. To the right are is a link to VIDEOS, where you will find a link to 7 DVDs offered at low quailty and small size, followed by 3 links all leading to the site's video page.
On the far right of the Chisel member home page is a section called PICK YOUR POISON. There are 5 sites listed there, including Chisel. You may have already looked at the top of the main member page and noticed that the title isn't Chisel - it's Verified Member. That's because Chisel and its 4 sister sites don't actually have their own member area. When you log into any of the sites, you end up at the Verified Member member area, with links to each site on the side. One of the sites - Sex Trek - is actually a toon feed. The rest share the same content.
The MOVIES section offers 14 links, some to feeds and others to what seem to be self-hosted content. All the videos are shown at around 320x240 with a bitrate of around 149k, which was pretty exciting 5 years ago, but nowadays is smallish and not very high quality. None of the videos I checked out could be downloaded, and one section - Hard n Raw - offers lowish quality vidcaps with the vids.
The movies categories include toys, bears, glory holes and more raunchy gay sex. Each one includes a tiny thumb, a title and a very brief description. You will find several pornstar profiles on the movie page, each with vids. My favorite is Joey Hart's because instead of calling the clips Clip 1, Clip 2 or using thumbs, each clip of his interview is by topic. You will also find profiles of Henning Pink, Wade Neff and Cole Tucker, including pics, video and a magazine interview from 1998. When you're browsing the movies, watch out as one of the links actually leads to pay per view.
The PICTURES section contains 2 collections - Chisel Hot Beef and Hardcore Hunks. Chisel Hot Beef contains 40 solo guy photo sets, and Hardcore Hunks offers 12 hardcore sets. Each set is offered in a Flash powered gallery that includes a pretty nifty slideshow. These are solo guys, and while they might have been considered hunks in the 90's, these days some of them aren't that beefy. The pics are on the small side, shown at around 398x564 or a little larger. Don't let the small Download link at the lower left corner of the large photo fool you into thinking you can download the entire pic set - this link pops up a downloadable version of that one pic currently showing.
Chisel made me realize just how spoiled I am by modern sites. I want to know more about the set I choose, not just the title, and I appreciate big high quality pics and downloadable zip sets. I often visit sites that offer over 200 beautiful quality exclusive pic sets, with a new set added every week, and Chisel's pics offerings just can't compete.
The stories section of Chisel has a nice little collection of erotic tales on a dropdown plus links to Grizzly Tales, which is actually a non-adult gay comic strip starring some woofy bears. And there is a link to a gay erotic novel called Joystick and presented in 31 chapters.
There is a link to COMICS that takes you to the same toon story as the Sex Trek link, and a link to LIVE BOYS, which leads to the same live feeds we saw on the main page. There is also a link to TOYS where you can buy sex toys and porn DVDs. And there is a HELP link that takes you to a page with solutions to all sorts of common problems with the site.
Chisel is the grand-daddy of gay porn sites, yet it offers less content than many porn sites these days. It doesn't appear to update, which isn't surpring considering that after 9 years the site offers less than 100 pic sets. The videos are small, lower quality than you usually see today and are not downloadable, and the site dosen't even have it's own member area, sharing the current one with several sites. If you're new to the web, you may enjoy the masculine men found in Chisel's galleries and videos, but experienced surfers looking for quality might do better to look elsewhere.

After being around for so many years, I expected more from Chisel. Unfortunately I was doomed to disappointment. Most of the site is feeds and the self-hosted videos are small and not very good quality. For the price, there are a lot better sites out there with better looking videos and photo sets that are linked together like they should be. Unless you are joining this site for historical purposes, I'd steer clear of this one.
