Colt Studio can honestly be called a legend in gay pics and videos. They are possibly the most famous studio in the industry and their name has long been synonymous for muscular, handsome and manly men as well as high production values. Well, in addition to their VHS and DVD line, Colt has their own website and I'm going to take a look inside.

First off, the Colt Studio website has 2 functions. First it's a site one can join to get access to Colt pics and videos. Second, members get a 15% discount to all the items in the Colt Store, and if you do buy DVDs, this might be of interest.

The member home page is clean and well organized. The menu is on the right side of the page under the words COLTstore, but don't worry - the menu is the site menu. On it you'll find things exclusive to members, things for sale and some sections that are available to the public as well as to members. On the bottom of the page are links to the billers, legal stuff and a contact link.

The first section in the menu is Colt Men. This is the model index where you can find the latest men from Colt as well as the entire stable of 138 Colt Men from over the years. You can either use the dropdown at the top of the page to find the men by name or simply browse by thumbs. Each man's page has a photo gallery right there near the top of the page, and under that are a list of his Cinema Movies (these are the member videos), pay per view movies (for those who don't mind spending more) and his products, which are DVDs for sale.

Next on the menu is the Photos section. This is a collection of 8 large galleries - Action, Rip Colt's Drawings, Super Stars, Muscles, Butt, Hairy, Cowboy and Leather. These pics are mixed, so for example there are 40 pics in the leather gallery, featuring over 20 different models. The Colt pics are average quality and range in size from a little on the small side at around 300x396 to medium size of around 475x369. These aren't going to fill your monitor, but you'll still probably find some pics worth saving as the men are muscular, masculine and horny.

The Live Men area shows the next live shows scheduled in the site. There are 3 sections - Colt Men, Buckshot Men and Colt clips. The dates of the scheduled shows are from 3 months ago - not a good sign - but there are other shows scheduled by day of the week rather than month, so there may still be live shows.

After Live Men comes New Movies. This is not actually a content section but members DO get to preview the latest Colt Studio videos, each offering a 5 minute preview video and info about the movie. The previews are definitely worth watching, and they are the same quality as the movies in the next section, which is called Cinema and is where the full movies are.

Colt offers 10 full movies from their library, and they say they change the movies frequently - although they don't mention how frequently. If you're used to web videos, which are usually the equivalent of a single scene from a video, watching these movies will have a different feel to them. They are the full movies, including intros and credits, with a run time of over and hour and a half each. That means that even though only 10 vids are offered at a time, we're talking about more than 15 hours of videos, some modern and some the classic videos that first made Colt into an important studio.

The videos here are offered for Real Player only and you can choose between 5 speeds, none of which are very fast or large. The best-quality movies here are shown at 320x240 and while they're called 512k, they're actually shown at a bitrate of 350k. That means they're a little on the small side. They look good but not great and while they still look okay enlarged to 200%, although they do lose sharpness, at full screen you will notice a loss of quality. The classic videos are a little less sharp, but that makes sense and they're still quite watchable.

I was a little surprised as somehow I expected premium quality videos from Colt Studio and would have happily paid more to get it. The videos can be streamed in an embedded player, played in Real Player or downloaded as you prefer and you can change your player preferences at any time by clicking "Change Preferences" on top of the console for each video.

While the other sections on the menu are basically things for sale, the last section of note is called Community and is where you'll find desktop wallpapers of a few Colt Men, a blog and a couple other features including pisc from some events Colt has appeared at like the Folsom Street Fair, 2004 and International Mr. Leather, 2005.

The men of Colt Studio are everything you expect them to be - hunky, horny and almost the epitome of what being a REAL man is all about. Members can see those hard bodies and cocks in pics and 10 full DVDs in the member area. The DVDs apparently rotate, and are shown not by scene but by the entire DVD. These are offered for Real Player and can be downloaded or streamed. Colt Studio isn't a huge site, and membership is a little pricy, but all movies and pics they have are fully exclusive. Anyone who loves the kind of men Colt Studio has come to represent should definitely check out their site!
