GayDemon's review of Built Bears

Today we're taking a look at a site called Built Bears and the pics I see on the first page of the tour are mostly muscular and hairy guys - some hairier than others. The world of gay porn has so many meanings for the word "bear". A lot of people think it's a guy with a hairy body. Others think it's a really hairy beefy guy and yet others think it's a guy who is not only hairy - with facial hair - but also has a bit of a belly. Well, the tour of Built Bears is more dedicated to the somewhat hairy to hairy guys who obviously spend time working out at the gym.

When I logged into Built Bears I was taken to a page that looked a lot like the first page of the tour. On the top are navigation links and below are larger graphical links to the same sections of the site, and at the bottom of the page on the right is an email link. And that's it! No ads, nothing to confuse, no latest updates or date when the site was last updated. So let's take a look around.

Built Bears has a section called Galleries that offers around 50 non-exclusive pic sets of bears, muscle men and other burly and often hairy men. There are some blasts from the past like Hank Hightower and Tom Katt from back in the day as well as pornstars like Will West and Chris Steele. The pics are medium in size but for the most part the quality is pretty good. Many sets are offered in more than one part. Pretty much all of the sets here are solo and most of the guys range from sorta of hairy to nice and furry.

The Streaming Feeds section is all plugins - 10 plugins, to be exact. The first one is a bear plugin with 4 full-length feature bear films, each 70 - 99 minutes with multiple scenes in fairly good quality and 3 quality options and this feed updates with 4 fresh movies every month. The other 9 feeds are similarly laid out, with 4 videos and full updates each month in a variety of niches including bareback, muscle, leather and big dick. Something I like about feeds from the company who provides them is that they use a wide variety of producers so that their movies don't all have the same feel to them.

There are 30 clips in Video Clips section. These are not full scenes - each clip is one of 2 to 4 clips that make up a full movie so figure there are probably around 10 full scenes. The first clip for each video is listed last. Most of the videos are offered in both Real and WMV and many are available in both broadband and modem speeds while others aren't. And a few are also available in Quicktime. As long as you don't mind 320x240 videos, the broadband clips look pretty good - sharp and pretty clear with good sound - and the modem vids, which are actually a little fast for dialup users at around 214k, don't look bad for slower connection users.

There's also a second photo section called BearWatch. The BearWatch galleries is a large collection of non-exlusive pics featuring bears, hairy guys, chubs, mature men, bodybuilders and all sorts of big or beefy guys. A lot of the pic sets here are solo but you will find some hardcore and also some galleries that are not all series pics. There's lots of older pics including some smaller but hot cowboy and leather bear pics. Some of these pics are on the small side which is common with pics of a certain age.

The Links page here leads to a lot of sites that seem to be owned by the same group of folks. Some of the sites are free gallery sites (tgps), some are membership sites, some are pay per view video sites and some are DVD sales sites. Many are focused on muscle men. I didn't find any fun or informative or non-porn sites listed here although I did find a couple well known link sites listed there and a phone sex ad.

The big issue some people are going to have with Built Bears is that by many definitions, most of the guys here are not bears. I admit they don't quite fit my definition as a lot of them don't have that much body hair, are clean shaven and are muscular and sometimes even on the slender side. You surely aren't going to see many of these guys at bear community functions but the big question is whether the men of Built Bears turn you on.

Built Bears is pretty easy to navigate but it's impossible to know how often they update as there are no dates on the updates. I'd say it's a good site for novice to intermediate surfers. The streaming feeds are pretty good but they are also found on a lot of other sites so if you're an experienced surfer who has joined a few subscription websites in the past, there's a good chance you've seen a lot of the content - feeds and pic sets - inside other sites. Why not check the tour - you can see a preview of some of the models by clicking the Galleries link and if you haven't seen those models before and like what you see, Built Bears may well be worth joining.
