GayDemon's review of Bijou Gay Movies

Bijou Video is one of the best-known studios from the golden era of gay porn. Bijou Gay Movies offers members a chance to watch and download many of these movies - over 250, they say. Many of these are pre-condom classics, and the tour offers videos featuring those hot men of the 70's through the 90's, many with unshaved body hair and pubes. From twinks to leathermen to fisting, there's a lot to see here, and the 2 video trailers are definitely worth watching. Want to know more? The member home is intuitive and easy to use. On the right are the latest updates, each shown with a large thumb and several small thumbs, a full description and the title. To the left is a dropdown with all the DVD titles followed on all pages by a link to home, all videos and all photos followed by some ads.

The site currently offers 253 scenes from 44 DVD titles plus 261 pic sets. There are no dates listed, so I wrote to Bijou, and they tell me the site is now updating with a new scene every day. I checked for the last 3 days, and there was an update each day.

The downloadable videos are in MP4 format, so they'll play on PC or Mac just as easily. Each is shown at 640x480 with a bitrate of around 900k, and quality is pretty good, especially considering that these are classic porn, which is often poor quality but not these. There's a smaller downloadable version, also in MP4 format, for those on slower connections. If you prefer to start watching rather than download, the streaming Flash videos are also 640x480 at about the same quality. All the videos are full scenes and are DRM-free.

The pics are vidcaps, which means they're photos taken directly from the videos. They're shown at 640x480, the same size as the vids, and quality varies depending on the quality of the movie they're from. Some look pretty good, others just okay - but they're good enough to preview a video or get a feel for the scene. While each set had a slideshow, I was unable to get it to work in either Internet Explorer or Firefox.

If you're a fan of classic gay porn from the 1980's and 1990's, I think you're going to like what Bijou Gay Movies has to offer - the masculine men with their natural unshaved bodies, the pre-condom action. While I didn't find the entire Bijou collection - I didn't find the titles from the '70s - there's lots to see. Titles that can give you an idea of what to expect include Bears Night Out, Hooked On Hispanics, Cruisin' The Castro, Locker Room Fever and The Uncut Club of L.A.

Although the site does have a lot of the Bijou classics, it doesn't have all the Bijou titles despite the tour claims, and there's at least 1 DVD shown on the tour that isn't in the member area - at least, not yet. Since there's a daily update, hopefully those scenes will be available soon. Otherwise I didn't find any real issues here.

While not all the titles were offered, as the tour claims, there's still enough inside Bijou Gay Movies to keep classic porn lovers happy, not to mention a new scene added every day.
