zina | The Islamic term for adultery, or extra marital sex, as well as premarital sex, between consenting partners, that is punishable, according to the persons status.
Meaning
In the event of one committing adultery, the prescribed punishment is dependent on their marital status, and that of their partner.
If married, they are stoned.
If single, they are given 100 lashes
Islamic law doesn't differentiate between adultery and premarital sex.
Both are considered an offense, and subsequently punishable, if prescribed conditions are met.
