At about 13:56 PST, our host lost connectivity to our Vancouver data centre and GayDemon went offline for several hours. Initial investigation is an explosion at 1022 West Hastings (about four blocks from our data centre), caused some metal rebar to go into an electrical box that destroyed a set of 580 fibre cables. Worse, the electrical box is live and covered in asbetsos. Hydro crews are onsite in hazmat suits working on the repairs. While GayDemon is back online all services are not yet fully restored. This is the worst and longest outage GayDemon has faced since it started in 1999. To all our fans and visitors, I'm sorry and please excuse any issues you might encounter over the next day or two while services are being restored back to normal levels.
