Something for the Weekend: Jeffrey's Hollywood Screen Trick

15 Apr 2016

Ancient drag queen Sherry Vine has a splendid YouTube channel with loads of content, including vintage clips. I hesitate to call the 1990s vintage, but I'll come out of denial and admit it. Though I shall never wax nostalgic about Arsenio Hall.

Sherry shares this video, which is a surprisingly unglamorous parody of Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss, but with dolls. Rather buff dolls actually.

If you haven't seen the original, it's worth it. Sean Hayes, in his ridiculous  "i'm not officially out" phase, has the starring role as some guy who does stuff like be shy about love and stuff. I sure know how to sell it, right? It's good anyhow, though not so much on streaming (maybe pay kind), so head to your local video store (which don't exist so much) and rent it.

Now back to this parody, which doesn't require seeing the original. Just know that sexual desperation can lead to tragicomedy.

Which explains a lot, including Hugh Hefner's existence, Anna Nicole Smith's marriage to the ancient guy (his sexual desperation int that case), and Craigslist personals.

No dolls were harmed in the making of this video. Okay, some were. Okay, most were. Thanks goodness for plastic.

Roger Ebert gives this video zero stars because he never saw it plus he's dead. But I think he'd get a kick out of it.
