Melodramatic Diary Of A Cynic

Melodramatic Diary Of A Cynic

Melodramatic Diary Of A Cynic is a blog dedicated firstly to thinking men and women, but it especially addresses thinking humans who are also gay. It is not gay-centric, having said that, but it is decidedly unafraid - even eager - to address gay issues. In my experience, there are various divisions among gay-friendly and gay-exclusive blogs. You have your eye candy blogs, dedicated to both soft core and hardcore realms alike. You have your fun blogs, dedicated to whatever. You have your maps and events and strictly non-fiction sorts of blogs, dedicated to directions to get to gay spots and meet gay people. Then you have your more thoughtful blogs, composed by what are actually very serious thinkers, such as Yves, here. What I am saying is that there is a highly intellectual class of blogs which focus the mind in truthful, interesting sociological ways, dealing with such issues as the "Mass Psychologies of Stupid", as I personally refer to modern politics as we know them. Yves is an excellent observer and one who is not afraid to venture his opinions on the concerns of the day. I happen to also think he shows a heartening care for truth and justice - which he has in common with many gay writers and political observers. These are humorous but very serious guys and many gals, as well, who look at life on Earth as a possible good thing. The contrasting elements to this view, would be modern politics. I love this guy. I like his takes on where we are in the modern dialogue of hope and adaptation to our changing world. This is a serious and funny man, well worth a long, enjoyable look.

SooooGay

277.jpg

SooooGay is a splendid blog site, teeming with red hot videos, photographs and tales about gorgeous guys and their partners. But it is also much more than that. The author compiles sensible ratings and reviews of other blogs most liberally, providing a very nice map to some seriously interesting blogs. There is always something to be said about someone who appreciates the efforts of others, giving praise when deserved. I really enjoy this site, myself. It is heady, quick-witted and still luscious-hot. This is a killer blog, loaded with pretty much everything, from nuts to butts.

Cereal Killers

Cereal Killers

Cereal Killers has to be explored to fully understand. Well, I mean, the crazy and hilarious premise is easy - you can "get it" from the first post. But in order to fully get to a more complete understanding, one needs to consider that this artist is at once crazy as hell and funnier even that that. Considering the awesome scariness of breakfast cereal, after all, is not exactly a fright we deal with late at night, as a rule. However, this great and devious mind has gone and constructed yet another unsafe - fully creepy!!! - and mostly just plain hilarious full blog on just such a premise. I confess, the uselessness and the gorgeousness meet at the same juncture on this fully enjoyable blog - right at the table. For many of us, sadly, we will never be able to look at Captain Crunch through the same innocent eyes which now read, in yucky green lettering with a monster's yucky visage looming over - "Capsized Crunch". But!! Having said that, the box advertises that at least the cereal has "A salty seaman center!" New cereals abound from this fetid imagination, such as "Hellogg's Gruesome Grimy Goo Goo Mucks", or - even scarier still - "Bunyan Bits", a particularly dreadful concoction consisting of some of that "Good Old Fashioned Wooden Cereal"! Hey, it;s "Organic", too! Ha ha! This is a fun one, please take the time to check it out when you need a chuckle. I love this crazy little blog.

Are You There, Blog? It's Me, Stephen

Are You There, Blog? It's Me, Stephen

Are You There, Blog? It's Me, Stephen is just plain terrific. Written and developed by Stephen Rader of Chicago, Illinois, this immensely rich and entertaining diversion is a blog of power, humor and yes - more irreverence. And, man, are we ever better off for that! Stephen is a fairly public figure in Chi-town, as he takes great pains to mention in his sidebar the activities which he is and wants to be an integral part of. For example, he is Captain of "Season of Concern's" AIDS walk team in the October 2 event sponsored by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Stephen also "pops in and out" of the Windy City Queercast Network, a radio site dedicated to gay issues and events, including humor. Then there's the blog itself. This is a sweet blog, full of entertainment and just fascinating, sexy, charming stuff. A fully "mixed bag", this is so obviously a labor of love by this dynamic and intriguing person, it's hard to categorize all the various reasons it's so dam plain good. Humorous, topical, different, this blog has pretty much got it all, including the 'summer sausage'. Great experiences are here, waiting for a look. By the way, make sure and check out the "My favorite captions winners." God, they are truly too freaking funny.

Life and Times of a Gay Guy

253.jpg

Life and Times of a Gay Guy is a delicious American blog with attitude. Funny, irreverent, topical and entertaining, this very cool blog illustrates as well as any I have ever seen why the proliferation of blogs is such a wonderfully enabling and creative event. Completely personal, without a care in the world who they might offend, bloggers such as this author deserve incredibly high praise for being plain brazen, if nothing else. That this blog is so well-written and designed is just a huge plus, making it almost too hard to get away from, which, come to think of it, is almost a problem. Damn these blogs, anyway!! ;-)

But this one is a 'keeper'. A quote from the front page, with Liza Minnelli being interviewed goes something like this: Interviewer: "Liza, your Mom, Judy Garland, and you have become such gay icons. Why is that"

Liza: "Because they all have such great taste!" Not bad, not bad.

There is sumptuous and even serious content here as well, by the way. He posts on family investigations into our own lineages and how different people have discovered interesting and even disturbing things. The truth does not suffer here and it may be the finest aspect of this most interesting blog. Check it out. You'll have a laugh and get to meet an interesting gay man.

Charmants

Charmants

Charmants is nearly too good to be true. This incredibly classy and very high-tech sort of website links pictures to other sites from a central filter featuring glimpses of what the link represents. Now, this may seem uninspiring until one actually checks the links themselves. What opens for the curious surfer are sites and blogs of extremely excellent quality - universally so, in fact. Not only that, but a menu at the top of Charmants reveals categories such as "adult", "sports", "entertainment", "fashion" and pretty much every category under the sun in an "all" category. The "Sports" section features both American and European footballers, wrestlers and eye candy galore of the most famous studs playing games. The "adult" section is special as well - very special. It shows 'more' than the standard elements, giving the total frontal nudity we often require in our surfing and depicting men at their very best. Nor are these guys unknowns. In the end, Charmants links us everywhere with some rapidity and style. Its purpose is revealed as a center for surfing and it serves that function extremely well indeed. The categories and the excellent features which are at the other end of these links gives us a variety which is absolutely uncommon anywhere else. This is a fascinating journey.

Gay Daily Hot

274.jpg

Gay Daily Hot is a dense blog authored by a very well-placed porn industry director and insider. Jason is very honest, quite perceptive and he doesn't mind spouting off his 2 cents on issues of the day. This refreshing candor makes for a creative man who has his fingers in any number of pies in the gay world of actors, films, and includes modern looks at modern music and culture. It is his own personal gay blog and it is one of the very best - featuring all sorts of different sources, not just his own. Cool blog.

My New Life

My New Life

My New Life is a blog that eschews sensationalism in favor of common sense talk about life, work, software, Richmond and Portsmouth, Virginia and being gay - in no set order. The spirit of honesty and of general humanity is very much alive in this fulsome and really quite spirited blog written by a person who is laid-back, caring, and far more interesting than he makes out. By this time in this well-established blog, Tom Rimington meanders just a bit but he does indeed dwell on connecting with family as a gay man, speaks of his relationship with his living partner and he generally carries the wisdom which 55 year old men who have already had a family can offer. This is a somewhat rare specimen - and he has quite a few visitors per day who will testify to that. While there is no sensationally sexy stuff in here - no horny photo's, no shots of young studs in briefs - there is a gay sensibility and a supreme amount of gay pride which it benefits us all to see enacted and lived by such "high-character characters" as this. Tom brings a maturity to a zany world - a world he actually avidly participates in and just as obviously enjoys.

ManWatch

251.jpg

ManWatch is a diverse series of gorgeous photographs of manly, handsome, extremely beautiful men in a profusion of different styles. From Brazilian exchange students, posed in aspiring model poses to cowboys, decked out in gear enough - or not enough - to make a body drool, these pictures of handsome studs are invariably fabulous. While not hardcore in the slightest, the author takes huge pains to provide the sexual nonchalance and charm each fellow exudes like breath from an angel. Every single picture - bar none! - is sort of magnificent in some form or another. The author of this blog chooses most particularly the variety of men we almost all would opt for in a dreamy world of our choosing and therein lies the charm of this blog. These are natural men, posed, yes, but beautifully masculine, powerful somehow and gorgeous even without the posing. This man - the developer of this handsome, sexy blog - is a connoisseur of incredible guys and the pictures which make them even more than they already are. This is actually one hell of a good blog for eye candy city.

Bi Like Me

250.jpg

Bi Like Me is actually a quite popular blog, authored by a very open, honest dude. I was struck almost immediately by his ability to talk straight and pull no apparent emotional punches. He seems very caring and he exposes himself dramatically. What he speaks of is the divergence of feelings revolving around living what is almost "2 lives", although, to be honest myself, he seems more than capable of doing pretty much whatever he wants. This is a smart cookie. Nevertheless, his urge to try and form the most honest possible responses to penetrating, seeking-type questions, makes for his own exercise in self-discovery. This is an attractive and meaningful blog - not just sex and cum - but one of all that and more. Make no mistake - it gets nice and sexy. But his obvious attraction to males and his relationships with them - complex and steamy, complete with bitter endings and some sadness - makes the heart go out. The popularity of the blog surprises him greatly but it won't surprise many others. This seems to be that best of all things - a really good, sexy man. I like this blog a bunch.
