GayDemon's handpicked and recommended gay sites and blogs that deserve to be noticed.

POPnography makes this month officially "Photographic Blog Month" here at the 'Editor's Choice Campus', in beautiful downtown Hot Dude, Mars. Damn. I am now wondering where I have been, officially, after running into so many of these marvelously engineered gay male photography blogs. Well, in any case, here is another arrival to my 'most-admired list'. This blog is authored by another enigmatic artist who is sparse with biographical or any personal details at all. But he is a most interesting fellow, nevertheless. His tastes are classic, but with a hugely chic sort of modernity which takes men and wraps them in impractical dress - or less - and reveals what we already knew but which gets magnified still: These guys are fucking hot! Extremely spare in design, it merely adds to the focus which is solidly engineered to present some extremely attractive and glamorous guys in intriguing lights.I clicked on his archive button above and that was more than a minor revelation. He has been at this for a while! Not only that, but his work remains completely consistent. Here is yet another man born to the blogging sort of style, illustrating a highly personal preference. I have to assume his very anonymity is purposefully added to cause some mystification, which fits well indeed with the gorgeous subject matter, which is subdued yet stylish in ways which surprise us. This guy is actually ahead of the curve. What a delight.

I love hairy men, that's no secret. But I'm always on the lookout for artists who use the hairy, masculine man as inspiration and display him in some way we might not expect. I love everything from comic books and animation to photography and sculpture, and of course, I love gay porn, too, which can be an art form unto itself. Inked Kenny is a Toronto photographer who walked away from a lucrative career in the fashion world. And thank God he did because he has photographed some stunningly handsome, hairy men. He uses natural shadows, hot spots, and imperfections to create a sexy mood in his photographs, something that's hard to achieve with the harsh lighting of fashion photography. And he draws from the energy of the men for his inspiration for settings and themes. He doesn't consider himself an artist, but more of a storyteller, but instead of telling a story through words, he using imagery. You'll find several pages of photographs at Inked Kenny, and if you're so inclined, you can contact him - he has several pieces available for purchase. His website says that he's got books, t-shirts, calendars, and cards coming soon, too. But aside from the merchandising, you really should head over to Inked Kenny - he's photographed some hot, fucking men, and his skill as a photographer makes them look even more sexy.

Eccletiche Visioni even sounds hot. Well, it is. Some of my most favorite elements of the best in Italian artistic and stylistic taste were never more in evidence than in this handsome blog. Even the first page reeks of an insight into all of the elements male beauty. I so often detect a love of "Classical Lines and Form" which stem from my serious biases resulting form experiencing Michelangelo's work close up. I suspect it's a fault, but going a bit wild over this really entertaining and seriously interesting photographic blog - as stupidly personal as it may be - just seems perfectly in place in even an objective world. It has the added asset, by the way, of being very user-friendly. Clicking on an image can take you to equally-hot pictures of the same model in other fab poses or they will escort you to an equally-promising blog, written by a compatriot of equal appreciation of males. Make no mistake, the entire effort behind the blog is to expose what is most beautiful about males - and sometimes not just their bodies. But enough to keep me happy! And more. This is an intelligent, gorgeous work of blogging art by a very apt talent to the concept of blogging. The pictures are never disappointing - it's pretty much an experience of going from one mouth-watering wonder to the next. This is truly exceptional blog, loaded with class and gorgeous men. With tons of each.

If you like to slip out to a bathhouse every once in a while - or more often than that - you'll know that it's often hard to find a nice selection of gay bears and hairy men to play with. In my town there's a bathhouse that attracts a lot of Asian guys and another that seems to be party boy central. Who wants to wade through tweakers to find someone hot to get sweaty with? But Steamworks is a bathhouse that solves the problem of finding fans of hirsute and bigger man.
If you're lucky enough to live in Berkley, Chicago, Seattle, Toronto, or Vancouver, then you'll want to check out the Steamworks monthly "Bears, Baths, and Beyond" event. Held on the fourth Saturday of the month, the Steamworks is packed with hairy men in all shapes and sizes. I've been to this bear event in Toronto a couple of times and I always have a good time. There's such a wide variety of men from muscle bears to 400-pound men who love their big bellies; and there's a lot of bear lovers attending these events, too, so if you like playing with a skinny guy who is going to get off rubbing your own big belly, you've go to check out this event. In Toronto "Bears, Baths, and Beyond" is so popular that they hold it twice a month!
And the Steamworks is a full-service bathhouse with steam rooms, hot tubs, saunas, and workout areas. I can't speak for the other cities, but Toronto's Steamworks has in-room televisions playing a variety of gay porn videos. And they also have a hot playroom with a gloryhole slurp ramp and private gloryholed cubicles that encourage you to get up to all kinds of nastiness. If you're heading to one of these cities, you'll want to schedule your trip so you hit one of these bear events.

Secret Escapades Of A Gay Gigolo asks the question: "Good Lord, who doesn't want to read this??" I could ask for a show of hands but I am not that dumb. The juicy details of a rent boy always make for some of the most entertaining and pants-stretching hottest voyeurism we can nearly conceive of. What we get in this honest and discrete recap of his type of escorting is some very rich fantasy details, designed by his clients and undertaken by our author. By the way, one thing the author does very well is remain strictly and purposefully anonymous. By doing so he gets to describe events in great detail, as he says. And besides, also as he says: "Who wants to read a resume?" I'll take this instead, gladly. He also gets to indulge himself in humor, self-deprecating jokes and things which do not "sell" particularly well. This guy is not selling - he is describing and we all gain hugely from it. Some of the situations are as hot as hell. He's a very good writer who makes the situations he describes resonate with reality and understanding. Good writer, real honest about what he does - guys like this are rather heroic, like anyone who is in the sex business. Hearing about what they go through should almost be required reading. It's a large trade - female and male - and deserves a read. Hey, it's only the "World's Oldest Profession".

Before Christmas I picked up the latest issue of Bear Magazine. It's a quarterly magazine packed with hot, hairy men. I no sooner get through the current issue and I'm salivating and waiting impatiently for the next issue. The men in the winter issue are pretty stunning; handsome men with big, beefy, hairy bodies and several had very nice cocks. But Bear Magazine is a lot more than just a parade of naked men across 66 pages. There's an article about three bear chefs, an opinion piece about Prop 8 and Don't Ask Don't Tell, and a fantasy piece about what might be hiding under those mascots we see at football games. There's an interesting piece called "Straight Bears Come Out of the Closet" that explores the emergence of fag stags - straight bears who like to hang out with gay bears. And of course there's the usual working out, fashion, and lifestyle fare that we find in magazines. There's even some hot fiction. I like Bear Magazine a lot. I love looking at the naked men, of course, but it's nice to have a magazine that focuses on my world. I don't have to wade through dozens of pages of shaved, 20-year-old guys and I don't have to pass through articles about pleasing my woman or why I need to cash in my wardrobe because square-toed shoes are suddenly gauche. Check out their website and they'll let you know where you can find Bear Magazine in your area.

East Village Boys is a delightful, stylish and quite purposefully rebellious blog, loaded with enough eroticism to intrigue anyone interested in their term - "cock culture" - yet also plain gorgeous and well worth a look simply for artistic reasons. This is an intriguing site, full of intelligence and wit. It has the additional feature of having a confessional sort of vibe, which seeks something common in its readers and to which they respond in equally interesting ways. A couple of features here are truly fascinating. For example, the "Reader's Lives" section offers an opening to contributors who want to share their own art with readers of this blog. What is truly good about this is that the authors of the blog thereby feature absolute unknown artists, most of whom really deserve at least some applause for not only their effort, but also for the products. There is an overall sensitivity to this blog that captures a reader. They are definitely rather fearless, but they also form an excellent jury regarding taste. I assume much of this is natural and some of it stems from training, but the sweep of their interests I find very involving and focusing. These are some smart guys with a message. Figuring out that message is a great exercise for everyone. Really cool blog and well worth spending some time in.

It's been a long time since I visited the Nasty Pig website. When I first heard the name Nasty Pig and visited their site a few years ago, they largely featured sexy jockstraps and cool gear with lots of hot rubber. I've had a lot of downtime over the holidays, so I've spent a great deal of time just surfing around the Web, visiting a lot of blogs, and basically clicking just about anything that caught my eye. That's how I found the new Nasty Pig website. And what a site! First of all, I have to say that I love the humpy, scruffy guy on the homepage. He's my kind of man. Second of all, Nasty Pig is a hot-looking site. Sexy greys, blacks, reds, and white - it's very nice on the eyes. Just visiting the site makes me want to work hard at the gym and then head off to the store to get me some new gear to show off my hot body. As I dug deeper into the site, I was surprised to see that Nasty Pig has really expanded to include all kinds of clothing and gear from jockstraps and underwear to shirts and pants, and lots of accessories like suspenders, socks, armbands, harnesses, hats, and even machine-washable, rubber playsheets. But Nasty Pig isn't just an online store; they have a blog where you can meet the staff, see pics of customers trying on gear, and lots of other stuff. They also have galleries of hot men wearing Nasty Pig gear and you can pick up some free wallpaper. If for nothing else, you have to head over there to see the website's background - it's mesmerizing.

Michael Brandon's Sex Blog is a "Stories Blog", full of tales of men having it off together. This is a seriously good writer, for the record. His settings are always believable as are the splendid creatures who people them. At least some of the most intriguing aspects of the work are these settings and the descriptive dialogue and discoveries made prior to the action itself. We're talking seriously hot foreplay. With an excellent sense of dramatic timing, we find such individuals as a young student unable to take his eyes off the two muscular and jocular painters who spend a bit of time teasing and, finally, a lot of time fucking and sucking cocks. The stories are easy to follow, they make sense and - man o man! - they are fucking hot. There is experience here, to say the very least. Nor is there ever more delight than in reading an author who loves his subject, and this blog is all over that. Michael quit this particular blog in 2007, which makes absolutely no difference. These stories are wonderful archives written by an accomplished writer who wants your pants to change shape rapidly. He does make that happen, very much. I will post again on this interesting character, Michael Brandon, who many of us already know. But this side of Michael is pretty heavenly. It very much needed to be seen as an example of the most excellent gay pornographic writing anywhere. Kudos, Michael!

A Bear's Life is like Cosmo magazine, but for hairy men. Who knew that bears had so much to talk about? But they do! This quarterly magazine is packed with articles from parenting advice to travel hot spots, and relationships to bear runs (those are scheduled events where a bunch of hairy men show up in one spot and do stuff). They interview the makers and shakers in the bear world; provide fashion and grooming tips; review movies, books, and music; they post photos of past bear events around the world; hell, they even have horoscopes! This magazine shouldn't be too hard to find if you live in a major urban center, most gay bookstores would carry it and even some of the large bookstore chains should have it on their shelves. But A Bear's Life has a website, too, where you can preview the magazine, order back issues, subscribe, read past features, and find links to the big world of bear.
