Superherofan describes itself as "Objectifying men in Pop Culture" - a rather omnivorous theme which it actually delivers in surprising and titillating ways. We see guys who we would not necessarily have gone out of our way to view, doing wonderful things like stripping down to various hunger-inducing degrees and getting themselves featured in screen shots from some of the episodes they play in, on TV and in film. 5 Star Man is sort of The Ultimate in swimming gear and underwear sites. Extremely stylish and quite professional, this site is absolutely teeming with interesting photographs and small stories regarding the hottest new guys in the galaxy. That this magazine is located in Los Angeles is something of a given, considering the locations of the shoots, the cute depictions of local colorful neighborhoods and "scenes" and the upscale nature of the fabulous lads posing in these smoking hot layouts. This is hardly a hardcore rag, famous for sex but rather takes us into the "Look but don't touch" regions of high glamor and epic chic style. Fun as a browse, it gets better the deeper one goes inside,and even takes on a much more human dimension when all is said and done. This site adds some sinew to its stylish front.

As video-on-demand sites go, you could do a lot worse than Maleserve.tv, part of the family of Cocky Boys sites that also includes Studmall, Benny Morecock and Studmuffin Blog. It's chock full of content from some of the top mainstream studios including Treasure Island Media, Lucas Entertainment and Eurocreme. There's also a lot of smaller studios featured - DeviantBoyz, Krowboi, Spritzz - along with a good range of "fetish" sites that include watersports, ass play and BDSM.
And in the area that matters most, the smooth operation of the servers - after all, we are talking about a VOD site - Maleserve.tv does a first-class job. The pages loaded quickly, the movies just as fast and there was very little downtime between selecting the scene and actually watching it. And switching between standard and full-monitor viewing was seamless. At least it was with my connection.
I also really, really liked the logo. It was warm and bright: A thickly-lettered 'M' with a white band running horizontally across it with the word 'maleserve' etched on top. Above it, the two sections that make up the top part of the letter 'M' are colored, one lime, the other yellow, underneath the three sections that make up the bottom of the letter 'M' are colored blue, fuchsia and red. The colors of the rainbow flag, exactly.
What I didn't understand was why Maleserve chose the pricing system it did. You buy time in dollars. The lowest amount is $5.00 and the highest - at least in the dropdown box - is $100 and it ranges in largely $10 increments in-between. The problem is that not all movies are priced the same. Some movies cost 15-cents-per-minute while others cost 20-cents-per-minute and there doesn't appear to be an explanation as to why. The problem with that of course is that whether it's a business arrangement between each individual studio and Maleserve or completely arbitrary, I, as the paying customer won't be able to determine if a movie is worth more until I've paid to see it. That would be like going to your local Cineplex and paying $10 for "Scream 4" but $15 for "Diary of A Wimpy Kid." And if I felt cheated, meaning I concluded the extra expense was not worth it, I wouldn't be inclined to return to the site.
So, in the spirit of constructive criticism, I would encourage Maleserve to rethink that policy.
About the only other thing that doesn't sit well with me is the pretty huge gulf between what you can watch if you like white guys versus everyone else. While most of the videos feature white males, all black, Latino and Asian videos are lumped together on their own page (marked quite literally as 'Asians/Black/Latino') with a fairly limited range (86 titles). I hope Maleserve continues to expand their portfolio so that all of the races get their due on the site.
After all, the object, I'm presuming, is to make money and it would be nice to see a more forceful commitment from the site's owner/s to fulfill the promise of equality that is underscored by those very colors on the logo we talked about earlier.

High Quality Blur is a pretty darn good read by an extremely honest and surprisingly well-traveled guy. He mixes plain-spoken truths, emotional reactions and feelings with observations about literal, physical things not always centered around sex. He well describes his history in such a light-hearted and efficient way, we nearly forget he had a brief gig in porn as well as providing escort services - all of which would be easy to overlook had we not, in fact, re-read the About page. His descriptions of growing up in such a small Michigan town and his history following that are plain-talk "must read" entertainment for the legions of us who have followed similar paths. We see it all the time. This author adopts that "Every Guy" persona out of a sense of rightness, I am sure, and he pulls it off so well, it's easy to forget how good he is at this blog. Let me just say this is a great read - it's light, heavy, entertaining, boring - but it holds you for a while and that's the best reference I could ever give. Personally, I'd like to see more about where this charming stud goes, and I plan on watching. Nice blog, I really like it.

Groovy Guys Vintage Gay Porn is pretty self-explanatory. Owned by the proprietor of Lavender Lounge, this vintage site offers all the intensely-scrutinized, selective best and perhaps the "most typical" of the gay porn from earlier eras. I love comic books and every Wednesday, like the geeks from Big Bang Theory, I head to my local comic book store to pick up the new releases. But I just discovered Jeff's Muscle Studio, which is a goldmine for gay men looking for gay-themed comics, comic books, and hairy muscle men drawings.
When I first visited the site I was introduced to Hearts & Iron, a hairy muscle man comic series featuring a couple of big, beefy muscle bears. Carl Hanson and John Sullivan are a couple of iron-pumping gay men who launch on their lives together and the comic series details all the things they encounter along the way.
But aside from this and a couple of other regular comic series, you'll find heaps of original art produced by the site owner. Muscle men, cops and firemen, super strong men, wrestlers and fighters, and other hot men. And you can buy prints of many of this guy's artwork.
Jeff grew up in the Midwest and he currently lives in the Arizona. He's been reading comic books and drawing since he was a kid. In his early twenties, Jeff started weightlifting, and he's studied Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu. And all of this life experience is a source of inspiration for his comics and artwork. His site is worth checking out and I might even pick up a couple of pieces of his work for my den.
