WhatTheFuckBlog is a blog with an affinity for the off-beat and unusual but which also carries on like your average urban gay male with his own appreciation for what I like to call "the good old banal" - those ultimately silly things which are emitted by the media around us all. I have to admit, my sides were splitting after moving from an interesting article on the new TV show about Real Housewives, thence on to Yoga (and subsequently religion, of course) freeing "victims" from "teh gay". The author then moved to one of the most bizarre-ever "Lonely Hearts" ads: "To the guy who took a dump on my face." I know, it is terribly infantile of me to laugh at such a tragic and messy scenario, but 'what the fuck'? Right? Anyway, the author of this charming blog questions the entire episode, who says: "EVEN we have ideas of etiquette superior to this guy." It goes from there in a small monologue that really had me laughing. The guy was shown the "pooper's" picture and still wanted to hook up. Anyway, I find this site a sort of blast, truth be told. He is irreverent and I am a sucker for that, but he also engages in very cogent and concise political and personal analyses which reveal a compassionate, curious take on life, cut with lessons learned regarding unfairness and general stupidity. These are the same questions, in short, that so many of us dwell on. This is a fellow traveler, to my mind. I grew to like him very much.

Tie Guy UK is refreshing. It's a site dedicated to bondage - not fetish, not BDSM, not role playing and not leather or rubber. Just bondage, a little tickling and teasing. The owner, who also does all the tying up, is Steve, and in his own words, "Bondage is the art of restraint." Not only does he do the bondage, but he also does the site updates, customer support and site design. It's pretty much a one-man show, and a labor of love. The bondage in this site is creative - often very creative. There's lots of rope bondage, duct tape, electrical tape, gags and sometimes odder things like boxing gloves. The guys who are bound are fit and from 18 to maybe 40, and they do this because they're into it - they don't get paid as the site doesn't make that much money. And to me, this just makes Tie Guy UK hotter as everyone who appears is there because it turns them on. And what could be better than that?

Privates-exposed is an absolutely jaw-dropping look at the world's most impressive muscle men and body builders. And I do mean the "world's" best. The guys in these incredible photographs are from real events such as the Mr. Universe, Mr. Olympus and World Championship competitions. Naturally, this blog's title gives away the other primary focus - although, to be truthful, all the various penises in the blog are covered by the mandatory "fig leaf" bikini shorts required of the events. And here lies the charm of the entire blog. It's interesting but also pretty funny. The author develops a system for what he refers to as a basic principle of the blog itself - the VPL - or, the Visible Penis Line. Now, regarding VPL's, they are typically measured in a very handy definition involving a clock. For example, there is the initial picture where the silky bikini briefs reveal a penis extending upwards, straight back at the head of the contestant. This is referred to as the "12 O'clock VPL". Naturally, these are shots of a "6 O'clock VPL" and well as a "2 O'clock VPL". You get the drift. However, there is even a category - and good thing, too - for "Irregular VPL's", where he shows a picture of what he refers to as "TSTD" (Too Small To Decide"). Irreverent, with other commentary every bit as humorous, it also does indeed give a great rendition of what these amazing fellows do look like.

Daddy's Reviews is a web site which offers "intimate", experienced reviews of escorts throughout the world. Individual guys are represented and more or less advertised, including rates charged. The "reviews" list any number of other items which could be of interest and then detailed reviews are offered as well. And - in some cases - very detailed reviews indeed! These men are escorts, more than delighted to be reviewed and assessed from the "user" end, as it were. It seems as though all niches are covered in one manner or another, from casual escorts for simple company and conversation to bottoms and tops with attitude. One is immediately struck, as well, by the geographical range of this site. From Australia to New York City, from London to Portland and Seattle, guys are offering services and their fortunate clients are addressing how they performed on their dates. There is also a public forum with many intelligent posts relative to the entire gay experience and the home page might well have a general mix of otherwise interesting bits of news and opinion, mixed with our escorts. Of course, it also has a place to advertise your own services under this sexy and informative umbrella, so it is a pretty encompassing site altogether. Very interesting.

Recently I came across a site called Jock Physical, and I was struck by how different a site can be when it's made by someone who's really into it, and how few gay medical fetish sites there are out there. Yep, there's no doubting that Jock Physical is a labor of love - or at least lust. Unlike the few other medical sites out there, which are either basically regular gay porn in a medical setting or way over the top, the physicals here are more like the physicals you'd get from your doctor. That works out well, because the guys - who are mostly college athlete types - respond to the setting, which looks like a regular exam room, and also respond to the man giving them the physical as if he were a doctor. Most of the exams to include a prostate exam and jackoff session - after all, the doctor has to collect a specimen. The site also has a blog, which has hotter text but a lot less pics of each guy. I think Jock Physical has hit exactly the right note and can't wait to watch this site grow!

In reading this fascinating site, Jocko Homo threw me for a complete loop. My first visit there has left me with the indelible impression that I have encountered a true Renaissance Man. I mean, he may or may not be all that, but the breadth and depth of his interests are plain riveting. Nor is any of this packaged in some arrogant or otherwise off-putting style. To the contrary, this guy is engaging as hell and he obviously has an interest that others might share and appreciate what he appreciates. Widely-read and extremely "up" on art, historical as well as contemporary, the blog visits any wild number of different subjects - and often even in the same post! He obviously has an interest in the classic male form and those things men are noted for at their very essences. There are many allusions to sporting events, particularly wrestling and weight lifting. The idea that such an interest coincides with his obvious abiding interest in art and high culture is a refreshing and challenging contrast. It is just a part of this charming blog, too. With archives which extend back to the unheard of year of 2001 - in internet terms - the history of this blog is something one could get lost in with real pleasure. Prolific and intensely creative, this may well become a favored blog of mine.

Towelroad actually calls itself "Gay Blog/Towelroad - more than gay news for gay men". They are right. It is more than "just gay news", but what "gays news" they cover is of the harder-hitting, sometimes painful variety. This blog attacks the attacks, as it were, listing incidents which are some of the most egregious anti-gay events of our times. They do much other reportage - the post dealing with Sarah Palin is particularly interesting. And they talk of normal and lighthearted things, too - entertainment, dating etiquette, places to go and events to see. But I could not help but be impressed with a certain fearless quality I see in many newsworthy gay blogs these days. They have this in spades. Granted, gay news is now national and even world news any more. Disappointment with Barak Obama is expressed here and detailed as to why. The attitude is hopeful but fearful and I think appropriately so. There is a fabulous - and I assume exclusive interview - with the outed Daniel Choi, the Arab language expert jettisoned from the the US Army - which is totally if not exceptionally newsworthy. In itself, that makes this blog among the most important in the blogosphere. What is even more interesting is the subject matter and the conduct of the interview itself. This is a great piece of legitimate journalism. This blog is serious and adult and it addresses real life concerns with appropriate gravity, yet still has some fun.

Kenneth In The 212 is obviously a blog centered in New York City. This is the blog of one Kenneth M. Walsh who is one of the more prolific bloggers I have ever run across. His blog routinely has some 3-5 entries per day, all of which, amazingly enough, seem somehow relevant, if personal. Here is another honest man who takes his own queer look at society, entertainment, pop culture, books - just about everything under the sun - and even including sports. He has a wonderful post which leads, via linkage, to a great story on Billie Jean King. Here, he enumerates her own incredible accomplishments in raising the level of women's tennis as well as her being an icon for personal honesty. This blog is wide-ranging and sort of muscular in it's confident treatment of events, yet it approaches things in a humble way. He is sort of fearless, I think, and he seems to look for challenges in his blogging, if I may be so bold to interpret his intentions. It's a refreshing look at things - let me say that - and he even goes into some obscure areas which redound personally to him, but which obviously resonate with people who follow and comment. Popular and probably deservedly so, I like this blog and the wide range of issues and stuff Mr. Walsh confronts. He seems extremely human and that's a good thing.

Ever notice those thugs and gangsters whose pants are so low it shows their underwear? And perhaps you're the kind of guy who notices that underwear - usually boxer shorts - and the fine asses beneath them. If so, you're not alone! Saggers Gone Wild puts the focus on "saggers", those rough street guys who are usually black or latin who let their pants sag so that they show their underwear. And this site isn't messing around with models and pornstars pretending to be saggers, either. It's a unique look at the gangbangers who tend to wear their pants low. We not only get to enjoy the view (and a great view it is if you're into boxer shorts, ethnic guys or rough street amateurs) but we get to know what saggers are all about. If you're looking for a site that isn't precisely an underwear fetish site, isn't exactly an ethnic porn site, and isn't really a reality TV show, but has aspects of all three, chances are you'll find Saggers Gone Wild as fascinating as I do!

Citizen Crain is an important blog written by Chris Crain - a name many will be familiar with from his days writing for The Advocate and other publications. In fact, it is almost hard describing how this blog is important. Chris has gained a perspective which is unique to many of us. He has worked in all those places - as a lawyer - that we read about as "mattering", nationally and internationally. Vanderbilt, Harvard Law, Chris has run what is the standard pipeline which would have led to a life of power in a straight world. However, something happened. "Coming out" was huge and he felt his core values changing. Raised as a standard-issue conservative, Chris began penetrating the veil of normality and found a completely different view. His story is not only compelling, but his honesty may be even more so. He now travels between Rio and the US because of his partner's inability to immigrate as a "spouse" and he chronicles this tale along with his other observations about political and social life in the world. By far what is most interesting to Chris is his maverick nature. This is a man who seeks the truth amidst all the tomfoolery of politics and even of our own social conventions. He is not pandering - ever - to anyone. He presents the incisive and very deep takes a loving but thinking person can discover and, as he admits, he learns as he goes. His humility nearly overtakes his insight, frankly, as an intriguing quality. You will not find cheerleading in this blog but you will be made to think. I cannot praise this blog high enough. In fact, I am humbled but charged up in finding it. I honestly wish everyone would check him out.
