Unique is a word that probably gets used more than it ought to, but sometimes there's no better word to express something. Take a site called Homo Punk. Haldeman, of course, displays disgust at such a thought, alluding to the "effeminate" nature of slip on shoes in general. It's really quite funny. There are other, similar views which contain humor and some rich understanding of all points of view, including the self-destructive and denying notions of the Far Right. Needless to say, his insights into "Milk" are great and he has mined some good intellectual ore in his visits to other gay roles in other films, to which he adds his own take. It is interesting watching an unrepentant gay man review movies which are challenging and which show the social divides alive all around the world regarding the gay lifestyle choices many have made. Honesty is always a great policy and this writer's own honesty made me a fan.
The Leading Men Collection
The Leading Men Collection is a website completely devoted to numerous and fabulous leading men in roles from Hollywood Films. From Baryshinkov to Harrison Ford to Keanu Reeves to Jude Law, all are included and each and every one of them has an authenticated item of clothing offered for sale. These items are for those of us - or perhaps friends of ours - who want to walk in their footsteps a while, wearing articles of clothing they wore during shooting of their numerous and famous films. Other memorabilia are here as well, including autographed photos, also authenticated with certificates from various establishments of good repute. In other words, this is a pure collectibles site, devoted utterly to men who have made fame by playing leading roles in movies. The clothing comes from movies indicated under the locations given by clicking their thumbnails. For example, Keanu Reeves' shirt was used during the filming of The Lake House and is on sale for $129.00. By clicking the shirt, you are taken to a deeper explanation of the item as well as given a deeper look at not only the movie itself but shots of Keanu himself. This is a beguiling site, if for no other reason than that it supplies eye candy for anyone interested in these charming men.

Sympathetic films are generally what we are talking about - loaded with the emotional components of love and exposure. He is an ambitious type, this author, who it appears is beginning a forum which may or may not make it - always a question with forums - and sporting an absolutely gorgeous site. But by far the single most defining characteristic of this site are the screen shots. The movies he chooses are all significant contributions to gay art, but his pictures are pretty much revealing of an interest in very handsome men. Not that there's anything wrong with that!! In the end, we get not only a sense of what is some great art but we also get a tasteful representation of what some of our acting icons really look like. This is an interesting blog, for sure.

Squarehippies is a totally unabashed blog which raves on and appreciates the male form, with particular interest in hairy guys - an obvious favorite. Another recurring and very hot theme involves "shirtlessness". Now 2 years old (I know because he celebrated a birthday in one of his posts), the material stretches back a good ways, offering some really interesting eye candy for aficionados of the cartoon niche and especially to observe the strides which have been made in that short period of time in cartoon technology and Flash presentations. But let's not leave out the Eros of it all. These toons are drawn by loving gay men with an eye to detail and towards what motivates some of the lusty fantasies common to many of us. For those who enjoy fantasy and art work, there is a steamy and always-present eroticism implicit in everything posted on this blog. To that end, this is a very faithful blog, rife with urgency and heat. This is more than well worth a scroll through its past.

Let's face it - Being Gay Is Awesome begins at a not very mysterious point! As a humor site, this one is too new and too small. There are, as yet, 14 reasons why being gay is so awesome. Ironic, critical in pleasant degrees, self-deprecating one has to assume, this writer has compiled some classically hilarious stuff. The obvious direction is utterly humorous with some intelligence and irony stuffed way inside. For example - (sometimes the titles are the giveaway) : Reason # 2 - "You'll always be able to talk your way out of a sly fart!" (just explain to fellow elevator sniffers they have just experienced a gay mating call). Another: # 4: "Reason #4: Your Shitty Tribal Tattoos Are Transformed into Smoking Hot Sexual Accessories!" He invokes the instigation of Korn and Sevendust as the inspirations behind those tribal tattoos one is now embarrassed over but which have recently transformed into hot secondary sexual characteristics. Honestly, this is some good and very funny stuff. We want more!
Could Be Straight
There is something immediately appealing about Could Be Straight. Without exaggeration, I think we would be hard-pressed indeed to find a better gay-oriented Book Review site anywhere in my world, at least, which would be better than Speak Its Name.. I have to take a breath here to try and curb my enthusiasm for finding this literate and incisive contribution to serious gay literature because I not only find it refreshing and informed as to historical matters but also compassionate and insightful into analyzing and caring about all the human emotions experienced by gay men and women and their inner lives and histories. There is a human hand at work here which I so appreciate, made even more apparent by their responsiveness to postings in this blog. The reviewers answer questions and so obviously attempt to make themselves responsive to readers, it just reeks of a passion and dedication to their labors you have to admire. The authors of this excellent blog have a critical and penetrating insight into literature itself, not just gay work, which they bring most definitely to the fore. What is most utile in their efforts, however, is a near compendium of other reviews and a huge listing of novels dealing exclusively with the gay experience. As if their insight and well-worded reviews of some really terrific books was not enough, they cement this good feeling by their responsiveness to their readers.
London Gay Man
London Gay Man is another of those informative sites dealing with a locale - obviously, in this case, London, England. Just rippling with information, this site contains reviews of restaurants, galleries, clubs, accommodations - even finance - with a decidedly gay-friendly slant, a bias one can expect throughout although not limited to that alone. It calls itself "your very own gay personal assistant" and it definitely acts to fulfill that role. Tickets, maps, classifieds, personals - it is dam near a complete and encyclopedic look at what the fabulous city of London has going at any point in time. On a more serious note, this very dedicated site also offers listings of helpful organizations involved in the political and the healing sides of gay lifestyle issues, from current political trends in England and London in general to a listing of all the helping organizations dealing with issues such as AIDS and HIV problems. From humorous and wry looks at fashion and celebrity behavior to the more serious side of life, London Gay Man is a superb resource, just busting with information. For those curious about what's happening on the entertainment and tourism front, I cannot imagine a better place to look.
