It seems like only yesterday that Buck Angel won an AVN Award as Transsexual Performer of the Year. But it was actually six years ago that the female-to-male transsexual took home the gold. In the years since, he has been visible in the gay world as a writer, lecturer and advocate for LGBT rights, making appearances on TV talk shows with Howard Stern, Tyra Banks and Maury Povich.
Buck's award-winning night, among other things, is documented in the new film Mr. Angel, which is currently making the rounds at film festivals around the world. The documentary, which was shot over six years, chronicles Angel's journey from a blonde tomboy to the manly man he is today. Directed by Dan Hunt, the film explores Buck's past, including his suicide attempts, homelessness and even features an interview with his parents.
Angel re-created himself as a male gay porn star (who happens to have a pussy) in 2005, appearing in films such as Cirque Noir for Titan Men. Now, he's back to making porn with a new site, where he's appearing in a scene with veteran star Brad Slater. For more information, visit buck-angel.com. And Mr. Angel, which premiered at SWSW in Austin earlier this year, is coming soon to Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Dublin and Tokyo. To view a trailer, click here.
