Having your own postage stamp in Finland and being the subject of an upcoming film are reasons enough to celebrate, but this Thursday, May 8, is the official Tom of Finland Day. It's also the birthday of the legendary artist, whose real name was Touko Laaksonen. Tom passed away in 1991 at age 71, but his iconic work endures. The foundation that honors his memory is asking friends and fans worldwide to come together to "raise a glass, enjoy yourselves and be sexy with absolutely no shame or guilt--Tom style!" It's even throwing a bash and has enlisted Brent Corrigan to host at Tom's House (1421 Laveta Terrace) in Los Angeles from 7 to 10 pm.
In a long post on his blog, the returning porn star calls Tom "one of the most substantial legacies we have to boast as a community." Corrigan did a photo shoot with the foundation's artist-in-residence Stuart Sandford last week to publicize the event and writes that Tom has "left an indelible impression on me. A man [who] has newly inspired me to get off my ass and do a bit more." The party will feature a Brent Corrigan kissing booth, a "pin the dick on the Tom" game and plenty of the artist's favorite cocktail, gin and tonic. Brent is promising to wear riding gear to "keep the uniform tradition alive." All proceeds go to the Tom of Finland Foundation. For more information, click here.
